Manuela Pimentel

Manuela Pimentel was born in 1979 in Oporto, Lisboa. She studied Plastic Arts at Escola Superior Artística do Porto (ESAP), specialized in Litography and Multimedia Art. Her work extends into different areas and artistic practices such as painting, drawing, set design and video. She has exhibited regularly since 2001 and her works have been exhibited in several collective and individual exhibitions in Portugal and abroad, being represented in different public and private collections. In her own words: “Art for me is my reason to live, to do my work, to build my path and the things I see and I want to transmit thorugh my artwork.”

We look at her intimacy, like a diary. Manuela Pimentel builds stories and an encounter with other people stories left on the walls. Through art she tells about what she feels. Her artwork shows a big consciousness in regard to what she sees in the street and the search for this revoald of ceramic tiles which reveals Portugals essence. Pimentel shares a desire to show there is a message to be transmitted through the street posters and there is a story built around of what people say and what she feels.
