Aarón Sanromán

Aarón Sanromán (1985, Vigo) defines his artistic production with a hyper-realistic aesthetic about water and its capacity for transformation, mixing sculpture and painting with a clear scenographic component. Also, his audiovisual training allows him to use multidisciplinary techniques.

His projects reproduce water as an element of life, fluidity and something that surrounds us in our day to day life. But water can also be a danger, source of anguish and frustrations as in its installation Spring in which the water overflows everything and comes out through the cracks in the walls. Time stops to provoke reflection and contemplation of what is being witnessed, in contrast to the speed at which we are subjected due to technological progress, its omnipresence and omnipotence. The fragility of a digital system, which as if it were a filter, mediates between us and the world, a reality that we live through intermediaries.

Sanromán captures seconds that he turns into sculptures, with constantly evolving materials and research to improve the technique and obtain the most realistic result possible. If there is something that flows, moves and changes according to the container, it is the liquid matter, but Sanromán juxtaposes the liquidity of the water making it immobile, turning his works into something timeless.

His works have been exhibited in cities such as London (Victoria's House), Oporto (Por Amor a Arte Gallery), La New Fair (Madrid) curated by Semiramis González, CEART (Tomás y Valiente Art Center, Madrid), 18th Cerveira Biennial (Portugal), Meetings of Contemporary Art (MUA-Alicante), Obra Abierta (Plasencia), ArtNobel Prize at INCUBARTE 7 (Valencia), ... His works are part of the collection of the Xunta de Galicia, the Deputation of Pontevedra, the Concello de Vigo, the Escola de Artes e Oficios Library of Vigo, the Amador de los Ríos Gallery (Madrid), the MGM Foundation (Ávila), the Guisando Women's Museum (Ávila), the Caja Extremadura, the Casa Foundation Graffiti - Gabarron Museum (Murcia), among others.

Winner of the Artistic Intervention Grant "Zona C" 2017 (Santiago de Compostela). His work SOLUBLE I has been selected for the  X Awards Auditorio de Galicia. Finalist of Florence-Shanghai International Prize (2014, China). Winner of the 4th Novos Valores 2015 Prize of the Deputation of Pontevedra and a grant from the Casa Pintada Foundation - Gabarron Museum. Selected in the IX Auditorium Awards of Galicia. IV Mardel Painting Contest (Valencia). He has participated in the EANV (V Encontro de Artistas Novos) Curated by Rafael Doctor.
